History of Techtron Appliances Pty Ltd.

In 1938 Mr. Geoffrey Frew established Techtron Appliances. As name specifies it is basically related to ‘Technical & Electronic’ field. In early days started manufacturing electronic appliances for the order in Australia and Melbourne. However, after the completion of Second World War, they manufactured various scientific equipments while residing in Brighton.

Spectrometers

It was shifted to small cottages of St. South Melbourne Market in 1954. And immediately after three years they started building modules for Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometers. Mr. Frew along with Mr. Alan worked together. Mr. Alan developed the atomic absorption method.
About 40 bits of these kinds are being supplied every year by Techtron by the end of 1962. They also got the manufacturing license from CSIRO for the manufacturing of complete AAS instruments with the help of Carl Ziess monochromators. They made all the electronic and other components there only.

After two years, it came out with the first AA instrument, AA3, all made in Australia. Techtron presented AA3 in Pittsburg conference in USA in 1964. And by the end of 1965 they became an ltd company, Techtron Pty Ltd with the merger of Techtron Appliances with Atomic Spectral Lamps Pty Ltd.

Techtron made various Ultra violet visible spectrometers in 1971. This step they had entered into the segment of market. They launched the entirely latest micro-computerized range of ultra violet visible instruments in United States of America in 1980.
